Shannon - Thanks for the idea. We agree this is definitely important to have, and will check into how quickly we can offer this feature. Stay tuned!
We have enhanced the search within Community to now include an Idea search facet. For example, if you search for "Model Management", you will see ~360 results today, but if you filter it down to Ideas, you will only see 13. This should significantly help find ideas.
Additionally, the feature to search when creating a new topic is also included helping to prevent duplicate ideas from being generated.

To be more intuitive, can we have a search box, with free text and enter for example ‘numbered list’ so we will narrow down the results?
Hi @annejulie - You can use the Global Search box at the top of Community and type in your keywords. In the results page, if you select "Community Type" to "Idea," then that will show you all the relevant Ideas for your search. Hope that helps!
