Summary
Enhance the Combined Grids UX capability to allow vertical stacking of modules (grid sections) in addition to the current horizontal (side-by-side) configuration. This would enable builders to present multiple modules in a single continuous grid view, improving usability, reporting clarity, and reducing the need for complex workaround models.
Business Use CaseToday, Combined Grids allow multiple modules to be displayed horizontally, requiring a shared row dimension. While this solves many use cases, there is still a significant gap when users need to:
- Display multiple modules sequentially (top-to-bottom) within a single grid
- Present different line item structures in one cohesive reporting view
- Create financial statements or operational reports where sections naturally stack vertically
Proposed EnhancementIntroduce the ability to:
1. Vertically Stack Grid Sections
- Append modules below one another within a single Combined Grid, using "Rows" in addition to "Columns" in the Combined Grid creation view
- Each section behaves as an independent module view
2. Support Independent Line Item Structures
- No requirement for identical row dimensions
- Allow differing:
- Line items
- Lists
- Hierarchies
3. Section-Level Controls
- Optional section headers / labels
- Expand / collapse sections
- Formatting isolation per section
4. Unified User Experience
- Single scrollable grid
- Consistent column alignment (e.g., Time, Versions)
- Eliminates need for multiple grid cards
