Guiding users through the UX best practices — Event recording available!
In July, we hosted a challenge inviting Community members to share their best practices on guiding users through the UX. We shared prompts with the Community to get members thinking about how they how craft the user journey through the app. Yesterday, we held an event highlighting the responses we received from the July Community Challenge.
Elizabeth Schera (@ElizabethS), Director of Product Utilization and Adoption, and Seb McMillan (@seb_mcmillan) Principal Platform Adoption Specialist, shared their expert perspectives as well as highlight standout responses from our July Challenge participants. Event recording available: Workflow In Anaplan
If you missed our spotlight event on Workflow, a recording is now available. Anaplan's Elizabeth Schera, Allison Slaught, and Chris Stauffer share insights and strategies to optimize your processes.
The session explores how Workflow can support more scalable and intelligent process automation by comparing two different options: a simple linear flow and a more complex, threshold-driven example with a multi-step approval matrix. Along the way, we highlight key differences, sprinkle in a few best practices and design tips, and include some recently released functionality not yet covered in standard training giving attendees an early look at what's possible.

Q&A
Hide 'maximize' and 'comments' options on text cards, field, and image cards
* Q: Does turning off Commenting on cards contribute towards reducing model size? * A: No, model size is determined the dimensionality of the line items
* Q: Have currently built cards in an app page all been defaulted to allow maximise/comments automatically and we have to go and turn them off? * A: You don’t have to turn off the ‘maximize’ and ‘comments’ options, but you can if you would like.
* Q: Is there a feature to duplicate a single card, without having to convert it to a template? * A: On dashboards, you first need to save the card as a template. In management reports, you can duplicate a card without saving it first.
Freeze rows/columns persistence
* Q: Can we set the freeze to hold permanently on card builder? * A: Not at this time.
Edit module names and notes in the Modules Inventory Experience
* Q: Do we have the option to search for a module in the beta version? * A: If you have the module or line item GUID, you can search by adding an underscore as the prefix and suffix of the GUID. In the Beta Version, you can use Ctrl F to do a find.
New UX for Models section in Administration
* Q: The information on last date a user accessed the model, does this include accessing the model via UX? * A: Yes.
* Q: Are the model categories in the Models section of Administration the same as the page categories in an app? * A: No, the model categories are metadata for the models. The page categories are used to organize the UX pages, not the model.
* Q: What is the objective for setup information models in the administration? * A: It helps provision users in large landscapes to the correct workspaces as well are removing access, usually done via the SCIM API.
* Q: Can end users without Page Builder option edit (reorder) Network Chart Connections on UX Page? * A: No, the Page Builder role is required.
Workflow
* Q: Can business day logic be used in Workflow? Or just the model calendar? * A: The model calendar is what can be used.
License Management Reporting
* Q: Can we remove licenses from disabled users? * A: Currently, you can only disable users.

Role-based page access
* Is the default being able or unable to edit the page?
* Any way to assign multiple roles to multiple pages like we could do earlier?
* Is it only applicable to model builder not user?
* A user is assigned to one role, correct? Are there suggestions for managing overlapping roles?
* Is there a way to copy one role's access to another (newly created) role?
* Does that make the module access section in MUX sort of redundant?
Formatting
* Is column formatting limited to a certain number of columns?
* Is there a way to format a level of a list at once? For example, format all months and make the quarters a different color.
* Will the formatting affect the column or row label even if there is conditional formatting?
* My users like to export reports to excel for further circulation — will the formatting now export?
* Can we set the format (%, $, etc) differently for members of Line Item Subsets?
New end user features: Expand/collapse cells, filtering across line items
* Is the default for list pickers that they are fully expanded?
* Do you have an option for having multiple filters applied with OR function?
* Does the line item filter see empty text cells > 0 if they are populated
Network cards
* Is there selective read access for the Network cards and connections?
* Can multiple levels from a hierarchy be used as nodes?
* Can it be used with customers overseas or warehouses outside the US?
* What are the limitations on the source to build connection and nodes?
* Can nodes be sorted in the visual based on a line item value (like in this example the highest number of capacity first)?
* Can you add another field to allocate a specific amount of units?
* Is the Network Chart functionality available within the latest SCM Apps as part of the configuration process? Or would this be viewed as an “extensible” report?

Formatting
* Do these formatting changes still apply after pivoting the table?* Yes.
* Are there new color combinations added apart from the existing colors? As there are limited options to provide colors as client's requirements for the graphs, charts, fonts, etc. – it will help if new colors are added.* Most color options take a hex value when formatting here.
* Is there any way to reset back to default all the custom formatting, instead of having to open up every possible menu?* Yes, click ‘Reset Theme’.
* How does the system handle a difference in the number formatting set in the models backend vs the NUX formatting you just showed?* The UX setting overrides the line item setting.
* How would you suggest showing the number scale for the whole table rather than adding £ and m to each line item (for example)?* Use your line item formats in the model itself.
New end user features: Expand/collapse cells, filtering across line items
* Can you set the list picker to be collapsed by default?* It is currently expanded by default.
Network cards
* How do you make the unmet demand alert on the chart in the top right?* There is a line item that checks for the alert condition and sets the value if there is. All other values are set for NaN for that line item and hence do not show up on the chart.
* Network cards can be used within the two hierarchies like product and geography?* Yes.
* Have any applications beyond SCM been explored? If so, any thoughts?* This is an SCM example although a network chart may apply to any planning processes that have many to many relationships.
* Can we have a one to many relationship? For ex, one child list item have multiple parent list items?* Yes.
* Are network charts synced based on Page selectors?* Yes.
